BIDEN’S NEW NICKNAME
The New York Times has twice in one week run pieces raking Biden over the coals for denying the existence of his young granddaughter in Arkansas, while there have been numerous reports from mainstream outlets airing anonymous West Wing grievances over aides' inability to find prime times to schedule public events for the president who just isn't up to the rigors of a full day.
It's a far cry from the earlier mainstream reports seeking to cover for Biden's frequent gaffes (he's just so passionate!) and repetitious use of false stories (he's just trying to relate!). Still, the media have continued to try explaining away his comments such as "God save the Queen!"
Showing how even the mainstream media — which Biden has always griped about even when they generally provided uncritical, fawning coverage — might be growing inclined to shove him out to the retirement pasture, a blunt evaluation of Biden and how he treats White House aides popped up in Axios about angry Joe "Old Yeller" Biden.
Turns out he’s the abusive jerk of a boss we always knew he is.
A SULTAN’S ARABIA
Nakhal Castle, Oman. If you want to see an ultra-rich Arab sheikdom with exotically designed skyscrapers, you go to Qatar or Dubai. But if you want a more genuine Arabia of Sultan’s palaces, of forts and castles perched on rocky crags, of traditional villages tucked away in mountain fastnesses, of rock pools and grottoes gushing with spring water hidden in secret valleys, a place out of Arabian Nights rather than one of garish ostentatiousness – then you come here to the Sultanate of Oman.
Omanis are a polyglot people from all over Arabia, Persia, and India who’ve lived here for millennia, creating a cosmopolitan trading society that adheres to its traditional culture. There are fabulous hotels with great bars, concerts by the Omani Philharmonic Orchestra, and once outside the capital of Muscat, an Arabian wonderland so exotic it seems out of a movie. THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE IMMIGRATION CRISIS

We’re going to get deep and serious here, and I’m going to ask you to reflect on a number of previous articles.
We’re not going to fulminate against George Bush, illegal immigrant-hiring businesses and the whores in the Senate they pay off, Democrats who see every illegal alien as a potential welfare recipient who will vote for them, or even Reconquista Mexicans attempting to recapture the American Southwest.
No, we’re going to get to the heart of the matter and figure out the fundamental cause of the problem. The problem that lies at the heart not just of the immigration crisis, but of so much else, from the destruction of American education and culture to the war with Islamic terrorism.
Let’s begin with an experience I had in a small country restaurant in France.
POPEYE’S VILLAGE
Ever see the 1980 movie Popeye starring Robin Williams? It takes place in the seaside town of Sweethaven – and you’re looking at it. The film set was built in a cove on the northern end of the island of Malta in the Mediterranean just for the movie.
It’s now been transformed into a Disney-type fun park for kids and families. Not what you expect to find in an island famous for ancient temples older than the pyramids, massive medieval fortresses that were scenes of battles that saved Western Civilization, magnificently ornate Renaissance cathedrals, gorgeous beaches and breathtaking scenery. The Sun is Rising at the Supreme Court
Last Friday, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects a Christian web designer's right not to produce work for same-sex weddings. Speech cannot be compelled. It is this simple.
The ruling reaches deeply into the boardroom of BlackRock and far beyond the small marketing and website developer that brought the suit.
Pride month ended with a whimper.
Affirmative Action, the LBJ era plan to compensate blacks for slavery, is over. This and the other recent SCOTUS decisions show Trump's true legacy through his Supreme Court Justice appointments. Clarence Thomas finally has the band back together.
France is burning. There is no political solution on the horizon. Many say it is time for a new republic; forty years of liberalism have failed.
Renewable energy is hitting some big snags. The giant engineering firm, Siemens Energy, has confirmed major problems with their wind turbines. They have reserved $1 Billion to begin repairs, but this appears to be a lowball. The mean time to wind turbine failure is much lower than forecasted.
Setians are a global group of Satan worshipers that believe the Egyptian god Set and Lucifer are one and the same. They believe that Set compels them to break taboos, engage in the most abominable sex, and rape children. A new movie describes the child sex slave trade and the Setian impulse behind the demand. There are a lot more of these creeps than people realize, and the child sex slave trade is now larger than global arms trafficking.
China is restricting strategic minerals to the United States. They say it is because of American trade belligerence. It could be because China can no longer produce the materials in sufficient quantity. But guess what? The USA has capacity already built but idle that can be spooled up in short order.

The Lakes of Plitvice (plit-vit-see) in central Croatia south of Zagreb are a World Heritage Site, a wonderland of sixteen crystal clear turquoise lakes interconnected by dozens of waterfalls over travertine limestone natural dams built up over thousands of years. There are wooden walkways along them all, over which you can spend the most relaxing day strolling by them.

WHAT THE FOURTH OF JULY WAS NOT
Our national Fourth of July holiday—currently the nation’s 247th since the first in 1776—marks the birth of the United States.
The iconic Declaration of Independence was published on the 4th and largely written by Thomas Jefferson. Its core sentence would become among the most famous words in American history:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Those aspirations at the outset pledged the new American nation to hold to its promises “that all men are created equal.”
But note what the Declaration was not.
MICHELLE OBAMA’S PLAN FOR POWER
Last week, Michelle Obama, the politician, issued a formal position statement on Twitter regarding the Supreme Court decision to eliminate affirmative action in higher education.
In doing so, Michelle not only revealed her political ambition, which I believe includes the Democrat nomination for president in 2024, but also the likelihood that she herself was an affirmative action student at Princeton University in 1981.
In my film and book of the same name, Michelle Obama 2024: Her Real Life Story and Plan for Power, I do a deep dive into Michelle’s Princeton University experience. What I discovered is an obvious beneficiary of racial preferences who feels obliged to deny her privilege and to denounce the very system that bestowed those privileges as racist.
What I also discovered is, during her time at Princeton, Michelle had unconsciously acquired a race-based bag of tricks from which she could draw in her quest for political power one day. Like today.
THE ISLAND OF SARK
There are five Channel Islands in the English Channel. Best known are Guernsey and Jersey. Least visited is Alderney, along with tiny Herm. Most fascinating is Sark, Europe’s only remaining feudal fiefdom. No motor vehicles are allowed, excepting a few farmers’ small tractors. The governor and chief constable is called the Seneschal. He rides to his office on his bicycle.
It’s an ancient office with a tradition of many centuries. When I was there in 2010, it was held by Reginald Guille, a very friendly fellow as all Sarkese are. We rode our bikes around the island, even along La Coupée, the connecting path along the razor sharp high isthmus connecting two parts of the island – it’s pictured above.
There are gorgeous pocket beaches here, and beautiful natural swimming pools. Flower gardens are everywhere, the island could not be safer, cleaner, calmer, and more exquisitely charming. A few days here will do wonders for you. (Glimpses of Our Breathtaking World #131 Photo ©Jack Wheeler)
OUR FOUNDERS
On this July Fourth, it is only appropriate to pay homage to America’s most revered and beloved founders, George Washington, the Father of our country, and Thomas Jefferson, the Author of our Declaration of Independence. It may seem a puzzle to some that Washington’s signature is not on it. That’s because, as Commander of the Continental Army, he was defending New York City from British attack. A copy of the DI was sent to him by express rider on order by John Hancock, which Washington read to his troops on July 9.
It’s best not to think of their reaction to seeing America right now, as that’s too depressing. Instead, we need to summon within ourselves what we can of their courage, genius, and integrity to place America on a path of which they would be proud. May they inspire us all. This Fourth of July of 2023, it may be worthwhile to think of these four heroic Americans from a different perspective, to reflect on the almost unimaginable — for us today – challenges they faced and triumphed over to create and sustain our America.
Three years ago, the July Fourth of 2020, our Real POTUS gave a magnificent speech at Mount Rushmore, commemorating America’s founding and warning us of the grave dangers our nation faced from its enemies within its gates.
Frankly, the comparison with the elation we felt back then and what we are suffering now is painful. However, it is less painful today than it was a few days ago, i.e., June 29-30, seeing our nation’s highest court deliver three 6-3 decisions thrillingly pro-Constitution.
It’s the Left’s karma: “Live by the sword, die by the sword” is now for them, “Live by unconstitutional Court rulings, die by constitutional Court rulings.”
The July 4th of three years ago was one of elation. The July 4th of one and two years ago were ones of heartbreak. The July 4th of today is one of justifiable hope.

Liberals destroy respect for the rule of law by gloating over Scooter Libby's lunatic conviction. Conservatives anguish over Ann Coulter using an unacceptable equivalent of "girlieman" to describe John "Breck Boy" Edwards. Liberals see her comment far more immoral than Bill Maher's expressing his regret that the assassination attempt on Dick Cheney in Afghanistan wasn't successful.
I could go on and on, for we seem surrounded by absurdities on every side and they are closing in. We need a break. Let's do so by discussing one of the deepest, most profound questions ever asked:
Where is everybody?
In other words, let's discuss the Fermi Paradox.
THE GOLDEN THRONE OF KING TUT
Now on display in National Museum of Egypt in Cairo, the 3,340 year-old artistic masterpiece of Pharoah Tutankhamun and his wife Ankhesenamun portrayed on facing back of the king’s throne chair was discovered by archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922.
I was stunned beyond words when I first saw it in 1971, and every time I’ve seen it since, I’m shocked into the same state of awe. It’s not simply the sheer beauty of the blue lapis lazuli, the red carnelian, the silver and the solid gold plate, nor the breathtaking skill of artistry. It’s that the scene is so profoundly, so touchingly human. As she gently rubs oil on to his arms, they are looking into each other’s eyes with the tenderness of love.
This is not some God-King high and mighty ruler and haughty Queen far above their lowly subjects, but a very human man and wife in love. This golden throne speaks to us from 33 centuries ago that back then people were people like us. Our connection to history is our common humanity. FLASHBACK FRIDAY – THE BLACK MANED LION OF ANGOLA
August, 1983. It was pitch-black dark as I and a couple dozen heavily-armed UNITA guerrillas were rumbling over the roadless Angolan bush in a huge captured Russian truck. Suddenly there was an entire pride of lions running in front of the truck’s headlights. As they scattered, without warning a massive black-maned male jumped in front of us. The driver didn’t have time to swerve – we crashed into him full on, killing him instantly.

Of course, the Hate-America Xiden Administration is once again blocking a fireworks celebration at Mount Rushmore, so those you see above was when we had a legitimate, Pro-America president, PDJT.
When you celebrate our nation’s independence, do so with the realization that this illegitimate infestation currently in the White House will soon be no more. The latest demonstration of why:
Thanking who? The man sitting next to him, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi – and Dementia Joe forgot his name. He then tried to cover it up with a monumentally cringe-worthy attempt at humor – which everyone took seriously because that’s what he and his family have sold to China.
Earlier this week you read in TTP The Beginning of the End for Biden? (6/27) and How Can the Democrats Get Rid of Joe? (6/28). Both authors made good cases that Xiden is way past his sell-by date and the Dems know they have to take him off the shelf. Just how is the question. His Modi gaffe now make this question excruciatingly urgent.
Truth is, it’s the woke fascist lunatics who’ve reached their sell-by date on the shelf of the Democrat Party. It is they who’ve had a moment in the sun casting a dark shadow of evil over America. The winds of the future are blowing them into the past, and America will be in the sunlight once more. Here we go with a brimmingly full HFR!
THE LION ROCK OF SIGIRIYA
Rising 600 feet above the jungles of central Ceylon (Sri Lanka) is a gigantic rock column revered for millennia as Sigiriya – Lion Rock from Sanskrit. It’s flat on top, used over centuries as a Buddhist monastery and a fortress by kings. In 480, King Kashyapa had the image of a lion carved into the rock as the entrance gate to his fortress-palace on top. All that’s left are the lion’s paws that you see.
It was a risky climb via stone stairs carved into the rock getting to the top. Today there’s a much safer wooden staircase. It’s a pilgrimage site for Sri Lankans where they get to celebrate their history and enjoy the gorgeous view on top. It’s a marvelous experience for you to participate in. HOW CAN THE DEMS GET RID OF JOE?
The Biden hits just keep coming. Trust in government is collapsing. Americans are starting to wonder what passes for "normal" in Washington, if there is any such thing there now. According to Pew Research, only about 20 percent of Americans trust the government to do what's right. That leaves 80 percent who expect government to do what is wrong — as in morally and ethically wrong.
Joe's fundraising is also lackluster. Politico reports that the Dems are concerned that Joe isn't inspiring their donor class anymore. If this keeps up, the party isn't going to have the money it needs to steal the next election.
As my grandmother would say, the Dems are in a pickle. Panic is beginning to set in. They're looking forward to 2024 with no successes, inadequate money, voter pessimism, and a candidate who can't walk across a stage without falling or shaking hands with Harvey the Invisible Rabbit.
Three years into the mess they created, the Dems are coming to the realization that they didn't hitch their wagon to a weak horse; they hitched it to a dying horse. They need to do something — fast. They need Joe off the 2024 ticket.
TWO SHORT VIDEOS PERFECTLY SUM UP THE CLIMATE CHANGE SCAM
While it's obvious that humankind can destroy its local environments (and has been doing that for millennia), it is equally obvious that the Earth's climate trends are unaffected by humankind's limited industrial abilities.
I just caught up with two videos from May that show just how ridiculous the climate scam is...and how it's being used to enrich our most powerful geopolitical opponent to our great detriment.
First however, a few points about climate from a history major's perspective. They show that we are inconsequential — the climate changes due to its own rhythm. In the scheme of things, humans account for only a small percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere. So read on – then enjoy the videos.

The gigantic forest-covered stone pillars of Zhangjiajie in a remote region of Hunan are so famous for being a featured location in the Avatar movie they’ve been renamed the Avatar Mountains. 2024 HOW TO OUT-COMPUTE THE DEMOCRATS

In 2024 Republicans cannot "out-fraud" the Dems, cannot "out-ballot-harvest" them, cannot "out-lawfare" them, cannot "out-media" them, cannot "out–contribution mule" them, cannot "out–Justice Department" them...but sure as hell can out-compute them — and that may do it.
The Democrats own the election apparatus — voting equipment, ballot-manufacturing, vagrant habitats, election commissions, media intimidation of judges not to look at election fraud and driving out any lawyer who raises a valid case.
The key is: electioneering, by both sides, currently runs 1970s technology. Dems make good use of obsolete relational tech; Republicans, not so much.
So, in 2024, there is an opportunity to out-compute the Dems. Here's what it may look like.
THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR BIDEN?
Something changed last week inside the Beltway that suggests the people who run the Democrat Party now realize President Biden’s tenure in office is not sustainable beyond 2024.
The “tell” was not, however, the latest revelation by IRS whistleblowers about his corrupt administration. It was instead the sudden awakening of the White House press corps.
The same “reporters” who snored through more than two years of preposterous claims by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and her predecessor simultaneously woke up last Friday (6/23). Correspondents from CNN, CBS, NBC, and even the New York Times aggressively questioned Jean-Pierre about the metastasizing Hunter Biden scandals.
This wasn’t spontaneous. The word has gone out that regime change is coming. Thus, the “news” outlets that usually repeat Biden’s claim that he and his son never discuss the latter’s business deals actually reported the testimony of IRS whistleblowers who allege political interference in their Hunter Biden investigation.
MONTEZUMA’S CASTLE
When American explorers came upon this extraordinary cliff dwelling in 1860s Arizona, they dubbed it “Montezuma’s Castle” on a whim. The Aztec ruler had nothing to do with it, of course. The Anasazi people built a number of these marvelous structures in the Southwest, high up on cliffs above a river that seasonally flooded.
For hundreds of years the Anasazi flourished, skilled agriculturalists and brilliant at constructing vast irrigation systems. Yet it all came to naught with a devastating megadrought with no rain for many decades, culminating in the collapse of the Anasazi culture and abandonment of their cliff dwellings by the early 1500s.

Last week, Vladimir Putin was re-elected President of Russia with over 70% of the vote. Does this portend the re-animation of the Soviet Russian Empire, led by a man with an unchallenged grip on power, possessed with a deep nostalgia for the glory days of the USSR, and determined to bring back those days again?
No, it means that Russia has taken itself out of the global game. It means that Russia has no future. It means that Russia is resolutely determined to screw itself.
Monopolies of power rarely work in today’s world – especially ossified ones. Putin may look young and energetic, but worked his whole life for the KGB – and every member of his cabinet now is a former Soviet apparatchik. There isn’t a single new thinker among them.
All of them are trapped in their past. In the Kremlin and in the totality of influential academic and journalistic thought in Russia today there is a complete absence of rational analysis of Soviet-Russia history and why the Soviet Union collapsed. There is never an accounting or realistic appraisal from anyone in government or academia.
There is only nostalgia. There is nothing but nostalgia. As Lionel Barrymore would say at the end of a play: “That’s all there is – there isn’t any more.”
This thinking is not imposed upon the oppressed Russian masses whose yearning for freedom is stifled by the tyrannical elite. No, it is reflective of common thinking. The recent elections demonstrate that Russians as a whole simply do not want a real democracy like those emerging in their former colonies of Eastern Europe, with real pluralism, small business growth, and economic freedom.
Americans have a naïve tendency to look upon the world as a place where everyone wants the political and economic freedom that we have if they had the choice and opportunity to have it. Maybe in a lot of countries, but not in Russia.
Let’s draw three bottom lines from this.
THE LESHAN GIANT BUDDHA
Carved out of a cliff face of red sandstone on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau over 1,200 years ago by Buddhist monks, the 233 ft-high Leshan Giant Buddha is the largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world.
I took this picture from a boat on the river that runs past it. As you can see by Buddhist pilgrims working their way down the stone steps on the side and in front carrying umbrellas, it’s raining. Rain is so frequent here that a sophisticated drainage system was incorporated into the statue when it was built. It is still in working order. Behind the Buddha’s head, between his two ears, and scattered throughout his body, there are several hidden gutters and channels carrying out the rainwater that have kept the inner areas dry and prevented the Buddha from eroding since the 8th century.

The Global Authenticity Problem
This week saw the loss of a tourism submarine in the vicinity of the wreck of the Titanic. The U.S. Navy determined what happened last Sunday but supported the psyop of a significant search for survivors to control the media narrative for a few days.
The White House desperately needed to divert public attention away from Hunter Biden’s legal troubles and the special privileges awarded high-profile Democrats. After last week’s assassination of Trump’s character in court, the two-tier justice system would have been too easy to see.
The submarine failure and loss bring to light the continuing problem of computer simulations and how the scientific, engineering, and medical fields are being gutted as organizations hire for everything except merit. The big assumption that talent is redundant in the age of sophisticated computer algorithms is widespread but dead wrong. Just ask the passengers on the sub.
Five years ago, Greta Thunberg, the autistic niece of a prominent Rothschild and financed as such, predicted that today would be the day that life perished on Earth. It seems that the math was wrong.
The world locked down three years ago based on a faulty epidemic simulation at East Anglia University. The science, it seems, means the Narrative is propped up by computer output.
Ukraine is finding the Spring Offensive more challenging than the wargames predicted. German software failed to account for many hurdles that would have been visible if conventional red-on-blue wargames were conducted. The problem is not initiative, logistics, or similar things. The problems Ukraine faces today appear to have been baked into the cake by the simulation designers. This must be fixed.
Russia and China face a similar problem: they simulate their plans, commit them to action, and then move without a corrective feedback loop to their central planners. The head of the Wagner Group calls the failure to give Putin accurate damage assessments an outright lie. Russian forces are not destroying masses of Leopard II tanks, nor are the casualty numbers nearly as low as RT.com tells the world.
Our Deep State is a mess, and our economy faces serious problems. But we have feedback loops forcing the woke to go broke and the public to abandon support for corrupt politicians. We have these mechanisms. Russia and China do not.
In the end, the self-correcting culture wins.
THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN, JOE!
FLASHBACK FRIDAY – SLEEPING IN AN IGLOO
April 1990. When our oldest son Brandon was six years old, I took him with me to the North Pole. It was my 14th expedition there, and as always, we stopped to visit friends at Canada’s northernmost community, the Inuit hunting village of Grise Fiord on Ellesmere Island. Brandon thought it would be cool to sleep in an igloo, which the Inuit do only when they’re hunting seals or walrus far out on the ice.
So the villagers happily complied, showing him how they built one, carving out blocks of wind-blown snow, shaping and placing them in an inward-sloped spiral with one block on top, and packing snow as mortar between the blocks. When it was bedtime – still daylight with 24-hour sunshine by April – they lined the inside with caribou skins, which shed like crazy with hairs everywhere but sure are warm. Snuggled into our arctic down sleeping bags, we slept like stones.

Trump Against the Narrative
Merrick Garland’s DoJ continues to throw everything imaginable at Trump, including some very sketchy interpretations of the Insurrection Act. The stink of Desperation is everywhere as the government unites against Meritocracy. Trump must run the table in the courtroom, but the likely outcome is the SCOTUS eventually finding the Insurrection Act unconstitutional.
The Narrative is collapsing everywhere. It turns out that Fauci fabricated false studies and used his influence to place them in leading journals at the very start of Covid-19. This was a cover-up of epic magnitude, and the healthcare industry slurped it up wholesale. Even if the peer-review process had not been falsified, data was not fabricated from thin air, and major medical journals were not corrupted, the scientific establishment should have detected the fraud.
But the fraud went undetected by the majority. The few doctors and scientists calling it bunkum were attacked like injured fish in a shark-feeding frenzy.
Our government lies, and so do most institutions. Dishonesty might be a feature of bureaucracy.
So how is the world responding to highly credible whistleblowers through highly credible attorneys, disclosing that the United States government has alien technology? And has been studying it for more than 80 years? Is this yet another psyop? Or is it true?
Unless they slap the evidence down on the proverbial pickle barrel, the alien technology is just another narrative. A.I. can make anything appear real, even if the evidence is presented openly. Hollywood is throwing out the green screens made obsolete by A.I.
But then again, it might be true…
ESG, on the other hand, is falling like a lead balloon. Fifteen Trillion Dollars has been pulled from ESG funds since the start of the Bud Light protest. That is a Trillion with a T.
Larry Fink of BlackRock might not be the Gnostic immortal and enlightened divine being that he fancies himself. ESG is not over, but the smart money is bailing out before Woke goes full broke.
China is failing too. A handful of U.S. Navy destroyers in the Indian Ocean can stop their fuel imports from Iran and Saudi Arabia. A Ukrainian drone can blow their pipeline from Russia.
China lacks food, fuel, water, and labor. Like Japan during the 1980s or BlackRock gorging itself on cheap credit, economic bubbles are eventually exposed as foolish and destructive.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GET TOO CLOSE TO A 6,000 POUND ELEPHANT SEAL
The Antarctic island of South Georgia is one of the most extraordinary places on earth. Square miles of king penguin rookeries, thousands of fur seals, hundreds of gigantic elephant seals amidst a backdrop of massive glaciers and snow-capped mountains.
All of the animals here have no fear of you whatever and ignore your presence – except if you make the mistake of getting too close to a bull elephant seal for his comfort. It’s a mistake I made as you can see. Luckily, with several tons of blubber to carry, this fellow can’t move as fast as me, so I hightailed it quickly. CAN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SOLVE THE SOCIALIST CALCULATION PROBLEM?
I was recently told that humanity is “rapidly advancing” toward solving the socialist calculation problem. I wasn’t told why, but around the same time, economist Daron Acemoglu suggested that artificial intelligence could be the solution.
To get literary, perhaps we are on the verge of creating the Machines, the artificial intelligences that plan the global economy in Isaac Asimov’s short story, “The Evitable Conflict” (which became the last chapter of his book, I, Robot.)
The Machines perfectly calculate the needs of humanity and organize the economic order to best provide for them, in keeping with the first law of robotics, that “a robot may not injure a human being, or through inaction allow a human being to come to harm.”
Given Asimov’s insistence that the Machines were mere calculators of unimaginable speed, not “super-brains,” artificial intelligence could be a further step beyond Asimov’s robotic brains. So could artificially intelligent Machines, at last, prove the central planners right?
No, they could not, and I’ll answer the question in three ways.
RUSSIAN ECONOMIC DELUSION AND MILITARY ATTRITION
The summer economic forum in St. Petersburg used to be a vanity fair of Russian opulence and corruption as “Russia’s Davos.” But last week’s (6/14-17) modest, if not frugal, event was rather an exercise in self-reassurance of sustainable stagnation.
The international profile of the event was seriously curtailed, and the guest of honor was Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who was eager to agree “with everything Comrade Putin said” and to sign the declaration of an “enhanced strategic partnership” between the two countries (Kremlin.ru, June 15).
Putin’s speech was entirely devoted to amplifying positive news about Russia’s economic performance, which according to his estimates, is still capable of delivering the volume of weapons necessary for sustaining the “special military operation” and providing broad prosperity (Kommersant, June 17).
Unemployment is indeed low, due to extra-high out-migration, but as for the alleged decline of poverty, that has been achieved primarily by doctoring the data (The Insider, June 16).
Economic statistics have indeed become scarce and carefully “improved,” thus enabling Putin to assert the diminishing dependency on oil revenues and the benefits of high war expenditures without any concern for a seeming departure from reality (Moscow Times, June 16).
LAKE BLED
First Lady Melania Trump would instantly recognize Lake Bled, for it is considered the most beautiful place in her home country of Slovenia. It’s a glacial lake up in the Julian Alps near the border with Austria. The small lush island you see has been a pilgrimage site for millennia – first to the Temple of Ziva, the Slovene goddess of love and fertility, then until now to the Church of the Mother of God. For all that time, Slovene couples came here to get married.
There are 99 steps from the rowboat landing to the church, and from ancient times to today, the tradition is that for a happy and long-lasting marriage, the groom must carry his bride up all 99 steps while she must remain silent while he does.

WOKENESS IN THE US MILITARY IS PICKING UP STEAM
For centuries, America has had that politically neutral military, but the Biden administration is accelerating a process begun under Obama, which is to weaken military readiness while ensuring that both officers and troops hew to a specific political ideology.
In the first five years of his presidency, Obama fired almost 200 military officers, some of whom felt very strongly that there was an ideological purge taking place. Certainly, the Pentagon class’s willing embrace of leftist ideologies (DEI, CRT and, especially, LGBTQ+++) indicates that those in charge of the military’s strange new destiny are on board with all of this.
As you can see above, the wokeness insanity is getting worse with LtGen DeAnna Burt feeling “compelled” to promote less qualified personnel in her hiring and promotion decisions due to “anti-LGBTQ+” laws in various states.
