Torshavn, Faroe Islands. I had to take a break from the relentless criminal insanity engulfing America. We call TTP “The Oasis for Rational Conservatives,” so I went in search of an Oasis of Sanity. I found it here. Let me tell you what it’s like before we have to sink into the week’s miasma.

It’s the people, the Faroese, that makes this place so special. They have created the Wisest Country in the World. With a literal handful of exceptions, all are Christian – with some 85% Evangelical Lutheran, and the remaining 15% other Christian denominations. Needless to say, there are no mosques in the Faroes.

There is no safer country on earth. No one locks their home, their car, or anything else. Children play anywhere anytime – 20 hours of daylight in the summer – with no problem whatever. Drugs are limited to a minimal use of weed. Traditional marriage is the norm, divorce rare, abortion even rarer, the Faroese have the highest fertility rate in Europe (2.38). Homosexual “marriage” is looked upon as a tasteless form of social lunacy – it doesn’t exist here.

The schools are excellent. People are educated and smart. Most everyone lives in modern middle class homes with well-tended gardens – no McMansions and no poverty. No beggars, no homeless, no refugees from alien shores. The roads and infrastructure are very good, everything works, everything is clean and spotless, there’s no pollution whatever, there’s no purer water or clearer air anywhere.

What impresses me most about the Faroese is how they think with the minds, not with their emotions. What’s fascinating is how they do everything with a relaxed efficiency. They’re friendly and love to laugh and sing, but on serious issues they’ll calmly discuss the issue from both sides, no matter what side they are on.

That’s inspiring – especially contrasted with America (much less, say, Greece), where everyone seems to be in a perpetual state of anger or angst. How extraordinarily refreshing it would be if America had the wisdom of the Faroes. But then, the Democrats and the Left would have to stop being Fascists, and there’s zero chance of that.

OK, time to step into the mire. Then we’ll step back out again.

An agreement was made in Vienna on Tuesday (7/14) only because the Obama administration capitulated to every single demand made by Iran.

“It's a deal worse than even we imagined possible,” said Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol. “It's a deal that gives the Iranian regime $140b in return for ... effectively nothing: no dismantlement of Iran's nuclear program, no anytime/anywhere inspections, no curbs on Iran's ballistic missile program, no maintenance of the arms embargo, no halt to Iran's sponsorship of terror.”

“This deal sets in place every key component of a nuclear program that Iran needs to develop a weapon,” said Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla. It gives Iran “a license to kill,” said Israeli minister Miri Regev.

Here’s the scary question: Did President Zero do this on purpose? Was this his malicious goal all along?

What is money? The coin and currency that you have in your pocket? The balances you have in your checking, money market or savings account? How about the value of your stocks and bonds?

The government (mainly the Federal Reserve) provides numbers about the money supply -- M1, M2, M3 and M0, which only goes to show that there is no simple definition on which all agree.

The economist-technologist-philosopher George Gilder, who has written many bestselling and provocative books, including "Wealth and Poverty," "Microcosm," "Telecosm," "Sexual Suicide" and "Knowledge and Power," has now produced a remarkable essay titled, "The 21st Century Case for Gold: A New Information Theory of Money."

In sum, Mr. Gilder argues that money is information, and that at some point a bitcoin-like non-government money will emerge on the Internet whose price will merge with that of gold, becoming bitgold.

About 20 years ago, my mom gave my then-new bride and me what has over the years become one of our most use-worn cookbooks: The Mediterranean Diet Cookbook. Being someone at the time who enjoyed eating whatever I wanted, a cookbook with the word “diet” in it would not normally grab my attention.

But fortunately my wife is smarter than me, and I love olive oil, garlic, tasty spices and fish, so these were and are recipes that have never felt like diet food. Throw in a little red wine, and you’ve got a regular celebration.

The idea is that by eating food that features a variety of multicolored, nutrient-rich vegetables, low in saturated fats, with an emphasis on more omega-3 fatty acids (found in deepwater ocean fish like salmon), our hearts and the rest of our bodies can be much healthier over time.

But this story is becoming much more interesting. It looks like the food we eat may have a lot to do with our psychological and emotional health as well.

Those whom the gods wish to destroy they first drive insane. It was a proverb in Ancient Greece, so old no one knew who first said it. In Antigone, Sophocles (496-406 BC) has his Chorus put it this way: Evil seems good to a man whose mind a god leads to destruction.

Sure seems like they were talking about America today. The same with historian Will Durant. In his Epilogue to Caesar and Christ (Volume III of his monumental The Story of Civilization) entitled “Why Rome Fell,” he points with shuddering accuracy to what’s happening to our country:

A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself within.

You can be quite confident that both Sophocles and Will Durant would wearily respond with “What did I tell you?” if they were told of this headline yesterday (7/09):

This is not only insanity, it is criminal insanity. Note than on top of criminal child abuse being paid for by taxpayers, it can be performed without parental notification.

All members of the Oregon state government who permit this – specifically those on the Health Evidence Review Commission (HERC) who voted for it – and all doctors who perform such criminal surgery, need to be in prison.

How is it possible that America got itself in such a morass of lunacy? Another observation of Will Durant applies: “It may be true that you can’t fool all the people all the time, but you can fool enough of them to rule a large country.”

America elected an evil madman to lead it in order to appease guilt-mongering anti-white racists. He proceeded to drive the entire country insane enough to reelect him, and is now determined to drive it so fully insane it will destroy itself from within.

Further, he has discovered the key of how to do so. Perversely, he learned it from Will Durant. For it was Durant who explained, “The family is the nucleus of civilization.” Destroy the family and you destroy a civilization, in this case America’s. The Madman in the White House has learned this lesson well.

Kate Steinle, 32, was walking with her father along the Embarcadero in San Francisco in the early evening July 1 when she was shot at random by Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, 45, an illegal alien from Mexico who’d committed 7 previous felonies in the U.S.

Mr. Lopez-Sanchez had been deported five times. It would have been six, but for the fact San Francisco is a “sanctuary city.”

ICE asked to be notified if San Francisco released Mr. Lopez-Sanchez, so he could be deported. But San Francisco does not honor such requests from federal immigration authorities. Credit for his release so he was free to murder Kate Steinle goes specifically to San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi.

Statistics on crimes by illegals are horrifying, but are ignored by Democrats and the media. When someone in the public eye mentions them, like Donald Trump, he is viciously vilified.

Yet, while Mr. Trump deserves criticism for how he said it, the thrust of what he said is indisputably true.

Our 70,000 page tax code “has grown so corrupt, complicated, intrusive and antigrowth that I’ve concluded the system isn’t fixable,” said Sen. Rand Paul, R-KY.

He wants to repeal the whole thing, replace it with a 14.5 percent flat tax on individuals, businesses, capital gains and estates.

In March, Sens. Marco Rubio, R-FL, and Mike Lee, R-UT, proposed a more modest plan that would reduce our current 7 personal income tax rates to 3, with a top rate of 35 percent.

Either would be a vast improvement over the ugly mess we have now. Neither will ever be enacted.

Every conservative reform plan with which I am familiar fails to take into consideration public opinion, or its vulnerability to demagoguery. So here’s what I propose in lieu of Sens. Paul, Rubio, and Lee.
