If you want to know the likely result of France’s presidential election runoff 10 days from now (May 7), just look at how the markets responded. The euro and the French markets both jumped dramatically.
And this has nothing to do with the underlying strength of the sclerotic, unionized, statist, overtaxed, unproductive French economy or, indeed, with the future of the doomed euro.
It was simply a case of the status quo breathing a sigh of relief that it was going to be business as usual, after all: Emmanuel Macron, the de facto Establishment candidate is now pretty much a shoo-in for the French presidency; his rival, Marine Le Pen doesn’t stand a prayer – of that the Establishment will make sure.
That is, Emmanuel Macron is going to win this presidency because it was decided long ago by France’s Establishment that he was the least-worst option of the candidates available.
The fact that he is a hollow man – a slippery, snake-oil-salesman with a winning smile and nice suits – who will do almost nothing seriously to address France’s massive social and economic problems is a help, not a hindrance.
Emmanuel Macron, you see, is the left-leaning French Establishment’s Manchurian Candidate – the French Obama. The parallels will astound you.

“Let’s Be Ungovernable”
The Le Pen challenge of 2017 is dead. Emmanuel Macron will have no trouble erecting a ‘cordon sanitaire’ to keep her Front National at bay in round two of the French elections on May 7.
The existential threat hanging over Europe’s monetary union has for now been lifted. Markets have instantly pocketed the reprieve. The spread between French 10-year bonds and German Bunds has dropped to ‘pre-populism’ levels of just over 40 basis points.
The celebration may be short-lived. “France is going to be very difficult to govern,” observes Eric Dor from the IESEG school of management in Lille. You can’t put it more mildly than that.
“The National Assembly [French Parliament] may be badly Balkanized and nobody knows whether Macron will have a working majority. The fear is that France could lose another five years,” he says. Just five years? How about forever?
WHY SHOULD WE SHUT UP AND GO AWAY?
Columbia University, from which I have a degree, has set aside rooms where straight white males — like me — are told they are unwelcome. How should I respond to their annual fund drives, when I am told to shut up and go away?
The global warming establishment treats anyone as a heretic who asks basic questions, labeling them as a “climate change denier” as morally depraved as a Holocaust denier. These immoral outsiders are told to shut up and go away.
As Trump tries to get a rational budget, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is likely once again to get it wrong, as it always has. The mainstream media, of course, will treat any disagreement with the CBO numbers as heresy. Those of us who have the audacity to point out the CBO errors will be treated as partisans and told to shut up and go away.
But why should all of us shut up and go away?
MAXINE HAS THE SOLUTION TO OBAMACARE
While discussing the rationing of health care under ObamaCare – that Trump can’t seem to get rid of – with my sister-in-law the other day, I think we have found the solution.
I am sure you have heard the ideas that if you're a senior you need to suck it up and give up the idea that you need any health care.
A new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of you anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Let's take care of the young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon.
So here is the solution.
When you turn 70, you get a gun and 3 bullets.
You are allowed to shoot one Senator and two Congressmen.
Of course, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head and all the health care you need! New teeth, great! Need glasses, no problem! New hip, knee, kidney, lung, heart?
Well, bring it on.
And who will be paying for all of this?
The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care.
With all the seniors gathered there, it will be just like a nursing home -- only free.
And, since you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income tax.
How's that for a politically correct, pragmatic solution??

No candidate was mentioned as everyone knows who he’s talking about – that Sunday (4/23), the French will swing big time for Marine Le Pen.
So ISIS has one of its agents, Karim Cheurfi – nom de guerre Yousef al-Belgiki, Joe the Belgian – gun down a policeman in cold blood with an AK right on the Champs Elysées 60 hours before the election.
Looks like ISIS wants Marine Le Pen to win too. Here’s why….

HOW DONALD TRUMP AND XI JINPING CAN EARN THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE SOLVING NORTH KOREA
Ereyesterday on Monday (4/17), Vice-President Mike Pence was here at the Panmunjom border between North and South Korea. But this is a view the Silver Fox never saw. For it is from the North Korean side. I took this picture in 2010.
Many of you know I have been all over North Korea three times (twice more in 2012). The article to read, for lots of photos and the real history as contrasted with the mythic of the most insane country on earth, is Pelosi in Pyongyang (September 2010, which I had to write under a pseudonym as I was under surveillance in Beijing).
There’s no more insane border on earth than what you’re looking at above. The border runs through the middle of these three blue negotiation huts in the center of what’s known as the Joint Security Area. You cannot believe how tense the atmosphere here is.
But let’s take a close look at something that’s hilarious. We’re going to focus on those two Nork soldiers guarding the entrance to the main negotiation hut in the center – and on what’s next to them.
Then we’re going to analyze in detail the actual threat of North Korea, and how to end it.
PUTIN IS FINDING OUT WHAT MAGA MEANS
You may have noticed that Vladimir Putin is distinctly annoyed with us, and he is right to be.
For we have deprived him of his great dream to join, and perhaps even lead, the ranks of the world’s most important leaders. Today, following the attack on the Syrian air base, Putin is just one more dictator.
During the Obama years, the Russian tyrant had grown accustomed to getting his way most everywhere. Invade Crimea? Fine. Grab slices of eastern Ukraine? No problem. Open military bases in Syria and Libya? You bet. We wouldn’t challenge him.
That has all changed with Trump. For when America moves decisively, the whole world changes. Thus, all those pundits who belittled the Tomahawk attack on Syria or the MOABing of ISIS have missed a very important point.
Over the past eight years, Russia’s effective power in the world had grown far beyond its real power. That has now changed, and you can expect our actual and would-be allies, and our global enemies, to change their recent tunes.
THE SCREAMS OF LITTLE GIRLS IN LITTLE PALESTINE

Livonia, Michigan is known as Little Palestine. The Detroit suburb is famous for its anti-Israel meetings. Dr. Murtaza Hussain was busted for letting unlicensed employees diagnose patients and write prescriptions. Dr. Waseem Alam and Dr. Hatem Ataya pleaded guilty in the nation’s largest Medicare fraud case totaling $712 million in false billings centering on Shahid Tahir, Muhammad Tariq and Manavar Javed’s Livonia medical firms.
But what was going on at one Livonia clinic was far worse than the theft of millions. Anyone passing by at the right time could hear the screams of little girls. We think of horrors like Female Genital Mutilation as a terrible thing that happens over “there.” Now, as American towns and cities are reshaped by Moslem migration, “there” is now right here. The terrible practice has come to America.
ONLY GULLIBLE FOOLS BELIEVE THAT THE GREAT BARRIER REEF IS DYING
The Great Barrier Reef is dead. It has ceased to be, expired and gone to meet its maker, kicked the bucket, shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and gone to join the bleedin’ choir invisible. It is an Ex Great Barrier Reef.
Well, at least it is if you believe the left-wing media such as the Guardian or the New York Times, which claims that the reef is at “terminal stage” because of damage allegedly caused by “climate change.”
Lots of eco loons have been rending their garments and throwing their (recyclable, organic, gluten-free) toys out of the pram in horror at this hideous disaster.
But it’s OK. The Great Barrier Reef isn’t in the remotest danger. Here’s why.
THE SAFE HAVEN OF BRITAIN AMIDST THE WOES OF EUROPE

On Tuesday (4/18) to the surprise of many, British Prime Minister Theresa May called for an early or “snap” General Parliamentary Election. It was a very smart move.
Assuming – as does most everyone – that her Conservative Party wins a landslide victory on June 8, Theresa May will be the only leader of a major EU state with a crushing mandate and the backing of a unified parliamentary phalanx.
All others will be in varying states of internal disarray. None will have a workable majority in their parliaments. Bitter internal disputes will continue to fester over the loss of democratic control under monetary union, whether or not euroskeptic parties actually come to power.
This gives the Prime Minister formidable clout. We have moved a long way from the first chaotic weeks after the Brexit referendum last June. The tables have since turned.
Britain will enter the Brexit talks led by an ancient and disciplined party of great governing credibility, while grave discord lies on the other side of the Channel, whether in France, Germany, Italy or elsewhere.
