We’ll have to have our own parties this evening however, as most restaurants won’t let you have one with the added farce of current lockdowns. Yet before you get lost in Margaritaville, welcome to TTP’s May 5th tradition.
That is to explain la verdad, the truth, so you’ll understand why it should be called Cinco de Farsa, The Fifth of Farce. This is history that you should have been taught in school but never were.
Which is, to begin with: Nobody in Mexico cares about May 5th. Only we, us gringos, pretend to. For if you ask just about any reveler at the nearest Pancho Villa’s Cantina or some such Mexican-themed bar anywhere in the US -- if you can find one open – just what is being celebrated on May 5th, you’ll get either a blank stare or "It’s their July 4th " ignorance.
So here’s the true history of Mexico. You’ll learn more about Mexico’s history in ten minutes than you ever did in school or anywhere else.
THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN ON A VANISHING MEDIA
It’s a legitimate question. For the truth is, the media exists in name only but not in fact. If we lived in a fair and just world, most of the current media would simply go away and try something else.
The problem is not that reporters are human and therefore sometimes err. The rub is not even that they are poorly educated or rarely write well.
The crisis instead is that they are now almost always wrong, and predictably wrong because they are lazy and biased—and they deny it to the point of self-delusion. The result is that, for all practical purposes, journalists no longer exist for the general public as sources of news.
Nowhere has the media nadir been clearer than in the case of ol’ Joe Biden from Scranton. It’s the latest evidence the walls really are closing in on a vanishing media.

One of the Left's standard attacks on the president is that he doesn't listen to the science! Sadly, he did listen to the so-called experts who predicted wildly hyperbolic death and destruction, and he agreed to the economic shutdown.
The president surely realizes by now that he should have operated on his gut instincts, which rarely fail him. Dr. Fauci, for example, sees no patients. He looks at computer models, all of which were wrong. Dr. Birx probably has more hands-on experience, but she too recommended closing up the nation. They were both wrong.
At every press briefing on the pandemic, the scientists to whom Trump has been listening have presented their data upon which the president has relied. But the numbers extrapolated from their models were all wrong. And now this mass hysteria that has brought the American economy to a full stop is devastating millions and millions of Americans.
WILL MICHELLE OBAMA REPLACE JOE BIDEN AS THE DEM NOMINEE OR WON’T SHE?
The news is suddenly awash in reports that, on May 6, Netflix and the Barack and Michelle Obama production company will premiere a documentary about the book tour Michelle Obama did in connection with her memoir. Both the memoir and the documentary are entitled Becoming. All my life, I have dismissed fear on the right (“America is headed to communism”) and the left (“It can happen here”—referring to fascism). It’s not that I’ve ever believed liberty was guaranteed. Being familiar with history and a pessimist regarding the human condition, I never believed that.
But the ease with which police state tactics have been employed and the equal ease with which most Americans have accepted them have been breathtaking.
People will argue that a temporary police state has been justified because of the allegedly unique threat to life posed by the new coronavirus. I do not believe the data will bear that out. Regardless, let us at least agree that we are closer to a police state than ever in American history.
We are presently living with all four of the key hallmarks of a police state. Here they are.
THE BLACK SEA BALTIC WATERWAY THAT WE SHOULD LOVE AND RUSSIA HATES
Plans for a new Baltic–Black Sea waterway, passing through Ukraine, Belarus and Poland, have the potential to revolutionize the geopolitics of Europe’s East as well as exacerbate East-West tensions.
The transit project would not only help the economies of all three participating countries and their neighbors. It would also promote trilateral cooperation on other issues, including security, and make each one of them more attractive partners for the West.
Not surprisingly, such prospects are gaining support in the US and part of the EU but generating ever more opposition in Moscow. Russia rightfully views E40 as a threat to its influence in the region and even, according to some analysts, as an existential threat to Russia itself.
THE ADDRESS TO THE NATION PRESIDENT TRUMP SHOULD DELIVER ON MAY 1ST – BUT WILL HE?
My fellow Americans. I have said repeatedly during the terrible ordeal our country and the entire world has been enduring, that “the cure cannot be worse than the disease.” Now at last we have convincing evidence that has been the case.
I have come to the conclusion, along with a substantial number of medical researchers, that the lockdowns of our society have been a gigantic mistake – rather than preventing the spread of the Covid-19 virus, they have prevented the virus from dying off in what is known as “herd immunity.”
The evidence of numerous antibody studies in state after state and in other countries that test if one has already been infected show clearly that the number of reported or confirmed cases is only a small fraction of actual cases.
AN EGREGIOUS STATISTICAL HORROR STORY
With the latest reports of plummeting death rates from all causes, this crisis is over.
The pandemic of doom erupted as a panic of pols and is now a comedy of Mash-minded med admins and stooges, covering their ifs ands and butts with ever more morbid and distorted statistics.
The crisis now will hit the politicians and political Doctor Fauci who gullibly accepted and trumpeted what statistician William Briggs calls “the most colossal and costly blown forecast of all time.”
Flattening the curve was always a fool’s errand that widened the damage.
