POLITICAL ENERGY
Varna, Bulgaria. This stunning city on the Black Sea is 6,000 years old, starting with a settlement dated at 4100 BC from which archaeologists have unearthed a huge array of gold artifacts. Today it is one of Europe’s most popular sea resorts, thus this is being written from a balcony overlooking a shimmering blue expanse of a sea called black. I’m with a wonderful group of TTPers exploring opportunities here
Varna is in northeastern Bulgaria. Late last month (5/28), Chevron announced it has received a license to explore a shale gas deposit in this region that it estimates contains a trillion cubic meters (35 trillion cubic feet) of natural gas.
This is good news for Bulgaria, and very bad news for the world’s greatest thief, crook, thug, and gangster.
You may think there is a lot of competition for that title, but no one comes close to the current czar of Russia, Vladimir Putin. He personally owns 50% of every major business in all of Russia. Anyone who turns over 50% of his business to him gets total protection. Anyone who doesn’t gets everything he has stolen by government "tax inspectors" and beaten up badly enough to be hospitalized.
Russia’s largest business is Gazprom, the world’s largest producer of natural gas, upon which much of Europe is dependent via Gazprom’s pipelines to keep warm in the winter. Putin is desperate to keep it this way, and is pouring billions into new pipelines from Russia to Europe.
But with the discovery of massive reserves of shale gas and coalbed methane in Bulgaria and all throughout Europe, made possible by new hydraulic fracturing technology ("fracking"), Putin’s dream of Russian political and economic domination of Europe is kaput.
He’ll continue to bribe politicians to block shale gas development and bribe scientists to produce "studies" that "prove" fracking is polluting, but the money and jobs and prosperity and cheap warmth in the winter overwhelms the bribes and eviros crying wolf.
This is one example of how fracking is the most politically revolutionary technology of modern times.
Politicians and crony rent-seeking ersatz-capitalists have made centibillion dollar bets on "renewable energy" scams such as wind and solar, and on mega transcontinental pipeline projects. Fracking makes them all obsolete – so 20th century. You’ve heard of "experts" blathering about Peak Oil. Instead, think Peak Renewable Energy.
Which is why they along with the entire "environmental movement" are spasming out in hysterical anger over fracking, because it dooms their subsidized gravy train of endless government grants and subsidies. They are all doomed like Putin’s Russia.
This is as true if not more so of America as it is of Europe – because of the absolutely astronomical amounts of natural gas being found by fracking. The Marcellus Shale alone contains a half-quadrillion cubic feet of gas.
And fracking tech now applies not just to natural gas but to oil as well. The Eagle Ford shale in Texas (between San Antonio and Corpus Christi) has up to 10 billion recoverable barrels of oil.
Then there’s the Bakken in North Dakota and Montana. It may contain well over twice as much oil as Eagle Ford, and a lot of gas as well.
For 41 years – since 1970 when Nixon established the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and not coincidentally US oil production peaked – Washington politicians and left-wing enviros have been screaming about an "energy crisis," the only solution to which is for us to "conserve" energy while they get to spend our money to control our lives.
This phony energy crisis coupled with the global warming scam has been for decades a primary rationale for Fascist Washington to impose ever more increasing intrusion of government into every aspect of our economy, and the way each of chooses to live.
Zero is, of course, as the most radical leftie president in US history, the conductor of the energy crisis chorus. He is doing his best to prevent or slow down to a snail’s pace American energy production.
So he shuts down the Gulf of Mexico – where Exxon has just discovered 700 million more barrels of oil – and shuts off unconstitutionally-owned federal land from getting oil out of it.
But fracking has come on so suddenly and explosively that it caught him and the eco-fascists by surprise – so fracking was out of the gate before they could succeed in demonizing it.
We all know how monumentally important it is for Zero to fail in being re-elected next year. Our existence as a nation cannot withstand another four years of Zero.
Yet we need to strive for far more than continued existence. If we want a return to American Prosperity, a confident, flourishing America, we must have a president who understands the Energy Crisis Scam – and has the moxie to end it.
One of the clearest examples is ethanol subsidies. Any Republican presidential candidate who doesn’t go to Iowa and tell Iowa corn farmers that they can kiss their ethanol subsidies goodbye should be toast in our eyes. Cross him or her off as either stupid or a political whore (which one is Gingrich and Romney?).
And none of this "gradual" ending of subsidies over years and years drivel like Pawlenty, or "needs reexamining" like Bachmann. It has to be like Palin – no subsidies for any energy production, period – although she has yet to go to Iowa and tell this to farmers in their face.
So far, no GOPer has had the requisite moxie to explain reality to corn farmers and all other energy rent-seekers – nor has publicly shown an understanding of how fracking is going to steamroll "renewables."
There is, however, one GOPer who can more than any other, even more than Palin. You Texas TTPers know just who I mean. Rick Perry.
I expect a spirited debate on Perry in the Forum. Word is, he’s getting very, very close to announcing. The Texas economy is booming, Eagle Ford is in his backyard, he just gave an anti-abortion/anti-Roe v. Wade speech at a Hispanic rally in LA on Sunday (6/12), and last night (6/14) spoke to New York Republicans where he edged even closer to running.
Once he’s in, he’ll be the heavyweight among the light and welter weights. Once he’s in, Palin may yet decide she’s out. Yet again, the true test for Perry as for anyone, is to go to Iowa and announce that his presidency will end ethanol subsidies.
That would be the start of a candidacy promising to end the entire "energy crisis." It is a manufactured crisis, manufactured whole cloth by fascist politicians and moonbat leftists. We have to have a president who understands this and will act on it.
A president who understands the entire issue of Political Energy. Who understands the full ramifications both domestically and internationally of US and European energy independence (the disintegration of both Russia and Saudi Arabia for openers). Who understands why Warmism (man-made CO2 causing global warming) is the greatest fraud in the history of science.
The only two folks who do are Perry and Palin. Maybe others will see the light, and genuinely, not as a Romney-type pander. Again, we want much more than simply the defeat of Zero. That’s the removal of a negative. We want a return to the positive, to an America exploding with freedom and prosperity once more.
Thanks to fracking, and a president determined to end political energy, it’s a future that we can achieve. We’ve got the fracking. Now let’s get the president and not settle for less.
