FREEDOM IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SECURITY

Ljubljana, Slovenia. Very few Americans have ever heard of Slovenia, even fewer of its capital cursed with a name no one can spell or remember (loo-bul-yan-ah). Which is a shame, for this is arguably the most charming, attractive, cheerful, and certainly the cleanest and safest, capital city in Europe.

The entire country is spotless and beautiful. There are glaciers and jagged peaks in the Julian Alps, picture-postcard villages on the Mediterranean, immaculately preserved old architecture, good beer, great wine, delicious food, and marvelously friendly people. Crime is virtually unknown.
There are castles perched on rocky crags…

Overlooking stunning lakes…

With breathtaking gorges you can hike through

And first-class hotels and restaurants with really reasonable prices.
Slovenia is an ancient land – the world’s oldest wheel was found here – and a brand new country. The Slovenes are a Slavic people who adopted Christianity in the mid-700s, whereupon Charlemagne (742-814) incorporated them into his Holy Roman Empire (HRE) to protect them from Moslem nomads invading from the east called Avars.
They stayed within the HRE when it was run by the Hapsburgs starting in the 1200s, and when the HRE morphed into the Austro-Hungarian Empire (ARE) in the 1800s. When the ARE was broken up after World War I, they formed an independent kingdom with their neighboring Slavs, the Croats in Croatia and Serbs in Serbia. They were slaughtered by Mussolini’s invading Fascist soldiers, then by Hitler’s Nazis in World War II.
After WWII, Yugoslavia as the state became known was incorporated into the Communist Soviet Empire run by a dictator named Josip Broz Tito (1882-1980), who cut the Slovenes some slack with their freedom as his mother was one (his father was Croat). With Tito dead and replaced by a Serbian fascist named Slobodan Milosevic, the Berlin Wall down and the Soviet Union falling apart, the Slovenes in December 1990 voted 94.8% (93.3% turnout) for independence.
Then they carefully prepared for the war they knew Milosevic would launch against them. They formed a government and formally declared independence on June 25, 1991. It was of course not recognized by President George H. W. Bush who was struggling to keep the Soviet Union together as well as Yugoslavia (his infamous "Chicken Kiev speech" was delivered a little over a month later).
Milosevic’s "Yugoslav People’s Army" or YPA invaded on June 27, vowing "All resistance will be crushed," and sure the Slovenes wouldn’t fight back. Big mistake. The first two attack helicopters launched by the YPA were shot down by Strela shoulder-fired missiles. Slovenian forces didn’t play defense – they went after the YPA, trapping them at bottlenecks and besieging their barracks.
The Slovenes knew the only viable strategy was to go on the offense – quick, fast, and asymmetrically deadly. Kill or capture as many YPA soldiers, truck drivers, tank operators as speedily as possible, then demand the surrender of the rest. By the end of the war’s second day (June 28), the YPA was getting its ass kicked. More YPA units were surrounded and surrendered with each passing day. YPA units raced out of the country in retreat. On July 4, a ceasefire was declared and YPA forces allowed to peacefully withdraw.
On July 7, a formal agreement was signed by the Yugoslav government recognizing the independence of Slovenia. Milosevic refused to attend the signing ceremony.
Historians call this The Ten Day War – and it is perhaps the quickest victory of freedom over evil in modern times. The entire Slovenian nation was determined to fight for its liberty and not waste any time doing so – nor engage in defensive action, negotiations, or appeasement. Go for victory and go for it fast.
Certainly there are lessons the heroic people of Slovenia can teach us. And without doubt, the single most important lesson Americans need to learn right now is that freedom is more important than security.
The life-purpose of all tyrants is to convince those they tyrannize that security is more important than freedom – that the tyrant is there to keep them safe from harm, that they must surrender their freedom to him (or her) in order to be safe, that the more freedom they give up, the safer they will be.
Convince people of this, and freedom is just a memory – like we have today in America. Here’s a question: are you old enough to remember when America was actually the Land of the Free? When you weren’t tyrannized by TSA agents at airports? When your local police department wasn’t militarized and engaging in hyper-macho Gestapo Goon Squad No-Knock SWAT raids? When you could conduct a normal small business without fear that you’re violating a myriad of government regulations?
All of us could add examples by the gross, for our freedom has been diminishing steadily for a long time. Recently, however, it’s been rapidly getting worse, with everyone in power, from local SWAT police to federal bureaucrats getting meaner and nastier. Today, we’re at the tipping point.
That tipping point is the choice between Freedom and the Surveillance State. One of them has to be destroyed. We can’t have both.
The choice is completely stark. The choice is completely lost on Useful Idiots like New Jersey’s Governor Fatso, who spazzed out in rage against anyone in Congress with the temerity to attempt defunding the Surveillance State. Or New York’s RINO Congressista, Peter King, who ranted about the vote for Justin Amash’s amendment to defund NSA spying on Americans: "It is absolutely disgraceful that so many Republicans voted to defund the NSA program which has done so much to protect our country."
Who needs Communists or Moslem Terrorists or an Obama in the White House when you have retards like Peter King in high political office?
Somebody needs to put a dunce cap on his head and make him write on the blackboard 100 times: "The purpose of NSA domestic spying is power not protection."
The purpose of NSA domestic data-mining is to have the evidence, when needed, that any – any – American whom the government or its media lapdogs want to destroy, has violated one of the countless government rules or regulations. The purpose of all those government laws is make everyone a criminal. There are so many no one can avoid breaking some of them.
They are not meant to be enforced on everyone – just to be enforced when you need to break someone. The problem is getting the evidence to convict or destroy. The job of the NSA is to provide that evidence when needed.
Once this capacity is widely known, you easily get a Nation of Sheep, obedient to any government edict or tyranny as they are to TSA arrogance. Freedom is completely gone.
If we want to retain any vestige of the American Freedom we once had, much less start to get it back, NSA Domestic Spying has to be defunded. It is either-or. The 134 Republicans who voted No on the Amash Amendment don’t have the brains or are too cowardly to understand this.
One Senator who does understand in Rand Paul. He encapsulated the issue in one short Tweet on July 26:
"Christie worries about the dangers of freedom. I worry about the danger of losing that freedom."
So should we all. Freedom is far more important than security – and besides, what good is security without freedom? The Slovenes know this. It’s time Americans remembered they once knew it too.
Update: Skye posted this response on the Forum that is vital for all TTPers to see:
Each of us CAN do something to enhance our freedom – without shooting anyone or getting shot at.
We can wage asymmetrical passive resistance peacefare against our enemy, Big Brother’s Surveillance State.
There are things that we can do to peacefully legally and passively resist the the invasion of our privacy that have negligible cost to us but which will have huge costs to our opponents. 1/10,000 of a cent spent on encryption can force the other side to spend 10,000 dollars on cypher breaking.
Asymmetrical warfare with SDI and Stingers in Afghanistan pushed the USSR over the economic cliff and onto the ash heap of history. All their H-bombs and KGB agents couldn’t save the Soviet Union.
A small percentage of Americans won the Revolutionary war.
A small percentage of Americans can win this conflict, too, by imposing administration-breaking costs on those who have hijacked America.
HERE IS A GOOD START TO RECLAIMING OUR LIBERTY FROM THE SURVEILLANCE STATE:
When you next communicate with your bank via the internet, note that the internet address of the bank in your browser’s address bar begins with the letters "https" rather than the more common "http". This means that you are using an encrypted communications link with strong encryption. You will also see a little padlock.
This use of strong encryption need not be limited to your banking. Want to look up some info on Wikipedia without the Federalies knowing what you are reading? Want to use a search engine without Big Brother knowing what you are searching for? Get the FireFox browser and the https Everywhere addon!

Don’t take the Federalies’ trashing of the Fourth Amendment lying down! Stick it to them hard!!
Do NOT use the Chrome browser; it is designed to be finkware for Google’s greater control. Use FireFox. FireFox code is open for public inspection, and a lot of exceedingly clever paranoid people are constantly vetting it.
