HALF-FULL REPORT 07/04/25

Welcome to the Fourth of July HFR!  And WOW! What an abundantly Happy 4th it is for all normal patriotic Americans.

As the NY Post expresses it this morning (7/04):

Before we go further, however, I want to suggest that you take a moment to read Freedom’s Birthday up on TTP today. That will start our celebration properly.

OK – let the HFR fireworks begin!

The NY Post cover story headline is: Trump Enters His ‘Golden Age’ As Bill Passage Caps Long List Of ‘Remarkable’ Accomplishments — Wowing Even Critics.  This graphic summary is handily provided:

But wait! There’s more!  On Friday June 27, a POTUS-brokered peace treaty between DR Congo and Rwanda was signed by their respective foreign ministers in the Oval Office, ending a war that has lasted for 30 years and cost millions of lives:

realdonaldtrump_062025“I am very happy to report that I have arranged, along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a wonderful Treaty between the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Republic of Rwanda, in their War, which was known for violent bloodshed and death, more so even than most other Wars, and has gone on for decades. Representatives from Rwanda and the Congo will be in Washington on Monday to sign Documents. This is a Great Day for Africa and, quite frankly, a Great Day for the World!”

The previous Friday (6/20): Pakistan Government Nominates Trump  For Nobel Peace Prize For Preventing India-Pakistan War: ‘Demonstrated Great Strategic Foresight, Stellar Statesmanship’.  Now, on Saturday (6/28): Rwandan Foreign Minister: Trump ‘Absolutely… Deserves the Nobel Peace Prize’ for Helping End 30-Year Conflict with Congo Peace Agreement.

For this and so much else, POTUS should be a laydown for the NPP on the merits – But the Norwegian Nobel Committee is infected with TDS.

Just by the way… SecState Rubio is proving to be the gold standard for that Cabinet position, his critical help in brokering the Rwanda-DR Congo is just an example.  But he’s also the funniest. Enjoy:

So… let’s talk about Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill that passed yesterday 218-214 with just 2 GOP No votes.

For me, I’m opposed to giant 1,000 page all but the kitchen sink dog’s breakfast bills in principle, no way to avoid too much garbage bad apples spoiling the whole barrel.  However…

You read Grover Norquist’s Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill And Its Permanent Tax Cut Will Change The World on TTP. Here’s his key point: “The importance of permanent 100% business expensing cannot be overstated.”

It reminded me of how many times over the years Skye (Durk Pearson) and I would discuss this in our weekly phone call.  Being a property owner and business developer, he would rail against the depreciation schedule – being able to deduct only a fraction of a business investment from one’s business taxes per year over decades, with inflation eating away the value of that fraction every year.

“You couldn’t have any better single thing to improve the US economy than to allow immediate expensing,” he said so often, “as the resulting amount of investment money pouring into America would be astronomical.”

Now it’s happened, and I so wish Durk was still with us to enjoy the moment.  And I can hear what Durk would be saying now:

Permanent 100% business expensing will be a rocket ship skyrocketing the US economy, which Elon Musk doesn’t understand.  He’s thinking statically, not dynamically – concentrating only on the federal deficit now and how the BBB adds to it, rather than how the BBB will enable the economy to expand so sufficiently resulting in an increasing reduction of the deficit.”

As Grover expresses it: ”Growth will reduce the size of the deficit and debt as a percentage of our economy. We will move forward away from the debt as we did after World War II when the debt fell from 100% of GDP to 20% of GDP.”

A Fox News report explains:

“OBBBA restores the immediate 100% expensing of capital investment that was temporarily permitted under the TCJA and applies it retroactively to investments made on or after Jan. 19, 2025, the day before President Trump’s inauguration.

To encourage the construction of manufacturing plants and make building new factories in the U.S. more economically feasible, the bill allows companies to fully expense new factories and factory improvements.

In effect, that allows businesses to immediately realize the tax benefits of the incentive, which can make such investments more appealing. Under the pre-OBBBA tax law, businesses were required to deduct the cost of nonresidential real property over a 39-year period.”

This is one reason I look upon Elon’s proposed “America Party” to oppose and ruin the Republican Party as impossibly foolish.  It’s a sure-fire way to entrench full and total Democrat Party/Woke Left control of American government.

It’s reminiscent of Teddy Roosevelt’s “Bull Moose Party” that split the vote with GOP President Taft in 1912, allowing the election of Woodrow Wilson, resulting in America’s First Fascist Presidency, the Federal Reserve, the 16th Amendment creating the IRS, the 17th Amendment ending Senators as representatives of state governments, and getting us into asinine World War I that killed or crippled a third of a million Americans.

Hey, Elon!  Let’s not do that again.

That’s a wrap, so get out there and joyously celebrate Freedom’s Birthday, realizing you’ve got plenty of company: 91% of Republicans call themselves “patriots” and love their country.  The link also reports only half of Dems feel that way.  Indeed, The Left Is Boycotting  July 4 With Protests While The Right Sees A Patriotic Revival.

Living a life full of rage, hate, and anger is a nightmare life, and Dems curse themselves with it.  It’s a tragedy that so many Americans feel such antipathy for their country.

We can talk later about how we might help them, but not now.  This is a gloriously happy day for us.  Enjoy it to the hilt, you deserve it.
