MOSLEMS IN THE NEWS
These days, we’re constantly being subjected to news reports of Moslem antics in various parts of the world. This steady drizzle increased to a downpour over the past week, a global deluge of Islamic weirdness. Here’s a sample of examples:
Gujranwala, Pakistan. (Gujranwala is Pakistan’s sixth largest city with 2.5 million.) On December 12, the Pakistan Express Tribune reported that a local villager, Asif Ali Babar murdered his mother for refusing to force her 12 year-old daughter (and thus his sister) to marry his brother-in-law in a "vani" settlement.
Vani is the Islamic practice of selling a daughter in a child marriage as a means of settling a dispute between two families.
Peshawar, Pakistan. The Pakistan Observer reported that on December 10, the leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel denounced the destruction of Pakistan’s educational system "by none other than our own Moslem brothers." Over 5,000 schools had been demolished over the past five years by Pakistani Islamic "militants."
Thus, he said, the literacy rate in Pakistan is now "amongst the lowest in the world" – hovering around 30% for Pakistan as a whole, 15% in the tribal areas for men and but 5% for women.
Karachi, Pakistan. On December 13, 45 students were rescued from an Islamic school where they were being held prisoner. "We were kept in chains and hung upside down and beaten with sticks" one boy told the police if they didn’t obey their teachers. The imams who ran the "madrassa" (Islamic school) said they had the students shackled and beaten "to make them better Moslems."
Jawf, Saudi Arabia. On December 12, a woman in her 60s, Amina bint Abdulhalim Nassar, was publicly beheaded by swordstroke for "practicing witchcraft and sorcery." Her conviction and execution was upheld and ordered by the Saudi Supreme Judicial Council.
Kabul, Afghanistan. On December 12, a story broke about an Afghan woman named Gulnaz who remains in jail two years after she was imprisoned for being raped. In Afghanistan, suffering rape is a crime as a form of adultery. The rapist made her pregnant; she bore the child in jail and has raised him there since.
Officials are refusing to release her, even with a pardon from President Hamid Karzai, because she is refusing to marry her rapist.
Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Over a million British tourists come to this Red Sea resort a year (and more from other Western countries). Tourism is the only hope for recovery of the Egyptian economy devastated by the chaotic overthrow of Hosni Mubarak last February. Nonetheless, Islamic fundamentalists who are winning political power in the current elections announced today (12/15) that they intend to ban bikinis and booze at Sharm el-Sheikh and other Western tourist watering-holes.
Oh, and the beaches must be separated into men and women only areas. This way, the fundies say, Westerners can "enjoy a vacation without sins." What fun.
Ottawa, Canada. Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenney announced on Monday (12/12) that it is now the official policy of his government that Moslem women must show their face, removing any veil or burqa, in order to take the oath of Canadian citizenship. The rule is effective immediately.
The Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN) condemned the ruling, as did a welter of liberal journalists.
Amman, Jordan. On December 10, Western news outlets began reporting on a story from the Jordanian website as-Sawsana (Arabic). An unnamed Islamic cleric "living in Europe" has issued a fatwa, according to as-Sawsana, banning women from handling "penis-shaped foods" such as bananas, cucumbers, zucchini, and carrots, lest they "arouse them and make them think of sex."
A woman’s husband or male relative should instead, he advised, cut these foods into small pieces – in a hidden place where she can’t see – then give them to her to cook or eat.
Jerusalem, Israel. Islamic mosques are distinguished by one to four tall towers called minarets, the purpose of which is to enable the muezzin (crier) to climb high above a village so people could hear the call to prayer. Muezzins have been made obsolete by electronic loudspeakers, which in mosques all over the world blast ferociously loud prayer calls at all hours of the day and night.
On Tuesday (12/13), Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu announced his support for a proposed law to ban Mosque loudspeakers. Anyone who has traveled in Moslem countries knows how obnoxiously intrusive they are – which is their very purpose. Moslems of course bitterly denounced it, but surprisingly a number of folks from Bibi’s own Likud party have turned out to be craven dhimmis.
Bibi needs to remind his critics that electricity is an infidel invention unknown to Mohammed, and that a pure untainted Islam requires a return to muezzins calling the faithful to prayer with their own voices.
Hollywood, California. Speaking of dhimmis – non-Moslems subjugating themselves to Islamic domination – they came out in force condemning the decision of Lowe’s to withdraw its ads from the ghastly cable TV show All-American Muslim, announced on December 11.
Calls for boycotts of Lowe’s have raged through the moonbat blogosphere all week. California Democrat-Fascist state senator Ted Lieu accused Lowe’s of "naked religious bigotry," and said he would "seek legislative action if Lowe’s doesn’t apologize and reinstate its ads."
But then today (12/15) a second advertiser, the travel website Kayak.com, announced it was pulling its ads. Not from any pressure from conservatives, but as explained by chief marketing officer Robert Birge, "the show sucked." The Hollywood Reporter confirmed this (12/14), revealing the show’s ratings have collapsed, now ranking 78th (!) among Sunday cable broadcasts. The show is headed for Cancellation City.
Washington DC. Along with the UN in New York and the EU in Brussels, a central headquarters of dhimmitude in the Western world is the State Department in Washington. This was highlighted on Monday (12/12) with the convening a closed-to-the-press conference on "religious freedom," with the primary attendees being representatives of the 56 member countries comprising the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
A primary goal of the OIC is for the US to place curbs (meaning enforce with guns) on speech that "defames religion" (meaning criticizes Islam). The conference, notes Andrea Lafferty of the Traditional Values Coalition, is "a direct assault with the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and our own U.S. State Department in an effort to chill and curb religious liberties and free speech in America." Thanks, Hillary.
London, England. This sample of examples ends with the announcement today (12/15) of the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge (Prince William, eldest son of Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth’s eldest grandson, and the former Kate Middleton) that they will be visiting the Commonwealth nation of Tuvalu as part of next year’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Tuvalu is the fourth smallest country in the world, a collection of nine tiny coral atolls in the South Pacific with a total population of 11,000 – all of whom are Christians of various denominations, except for 11 islanders who have converted to Islam. That’s 1/10th of 1%. Yet one of them, Iftikhar Ayaz, is the representative (Consul) of the Tuvalu government to Great Britain.
There’s even a mosque in the capital of Funafuti for all 11 of these Tuvaluan Moslems – and an office of a Jihadi subversive organization called Tablighi Jamaat.
What is going one here with all this? There are two lessons.
First is that Islam has become a feral religion. It has retreated from civilization into the wild. It has descended into juvenile barbarity, into the zero-sum predation of bedouin banditry.
Second is that it is cruel and inhumane of us to allow them to behave like this. Civilized behavior is better and uncivilized behavior is worse for everyone who engages in either. Anyone who objects should learn of Charles Napier.
General Sir Charles Napier (1782-1853), as Commander of the British Army in India, objected to the Hindu practice of suttee, that of immolating the widow of her dead husband on his funeral pyre. When informed by Hindu officials and priests that they would continue suttee regardless of his objections "because it is our religion, it is our custom," he told them:
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom. When men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we shall follow ours."
Suttee was soon extinguished in British India, and the people of India were better for it. Napier committed a profoundly humanitarian act, not one of religious intolerance or cultural aggression. The bronze statue of him in London’s Trafalgar Square is a tribute to his confidence in a civilized morality:
Islam’s morality of submission – "submission" is what "islam" means in Arabic – is an uncivilized win-lose morality as grossly unsuited to peace and freedom as Communism. Ronald Reagan recognized that there was no way to deal with the Communist Soviet Union except on their terms. Since there could not be a win-win outcome with the Soviets, he decided his policy would have to be: "We win, they lose."
We did, they did, and everyone, Russians included, was far better off for it.
This is what the dhimmis in the Democrat Party or our diplomatic corps do not understand with Islam. Moslems can choose win-win – abandon their primitive, predatory morality and become part of the civilized world – or they can choose we win-they lose.
The Soviets lost because President Reagan had confidence in a civilized morality, the same civilizational confidence possessed by General Napier. We desperately need this civilizational confidence in an American president again. We have its antithesis now.
If voters find the moral courage to choose a president with that confidence next year, then we will be reading much less of Moslems in the news in the years to come.
