LIBYA IN AMERICA
In 1930, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy made a film entitled Another Fine Mess…
… in which Hardy famously informs Laurel, "Well, here’s another fine mess you’ve gotten me into!" (Actually, he says "nice," but everyone remembers him saying "fine" due to the movie title.)
It’s pretty easy to imagine him, speaking for America, saying that to Zero today, isn’t it?
Or would he say, this is a fine mess we’ve gotten ourselves into? After all, Zero didn’t get us into this all by himself. So let’s talk about Libya in America. That’s a place called Wisconsin – but we’ll talk about Libya first.
Muammar Gaddafi is one of the world’s worst monsters – not just for his sponsorship of international terrorism but for the horrific tyranny he has imposed upon his own people. Secret police are omnipresent. Should the slightest criticism of Gaddafi be heard and you disappear.
How is it possible, then, for lots of Libyans to passionately support him when a major revolt erupts against his rule? Observers call what is happening in Libya a "civil war." How can this be?
There was no "civil war" in either Tunisia or Egypt – there was an outright popular and mostly peaceful rebellion that overwhelmed the rulers of each. Gaddafi is vastly worse than Ben Ali or Mubarak. So how come a similar popular rebellion hasn’t swept him from power? Why are savvy folks like Jack Kelly predicting "a bloody stalemate" to be the most likely outcome instead?
"Bloody"? What? It’s one thing for a tyrant’s subjects to cower in fear and refuse to risk joining rebels against him. It’s another matter entirely for them to willingly and passionately risk life and limb to protect him.
The standard explanation is "tribal loyalties," but as this BBC analysis shows, today "in terms of political power, tribes are of limited significance, with many of the pillars of the Gaddafi regime, such as the revolutionary committees and the security services, consisting of people of different tribal affiliations."
So what is commanding the loyalty of Gaddafi followers? Government paychecks, handouts, welfare, subsidies, largesse. Pay people to be dependent upon you, and they will be. What’s more, once dependent, they can’t imagine how they could survive without the handouts – so they’ll fight to the death to preserve them.
So we come to Libya in America – namely, Wisconsin and all the Wisconsins to come. Gaddafi has used his oil billions to get people, focusing on those in his capital of Tripoli, to be so dependent upon him they’ll fight to keep him in power. Democrats use OPM billions to get people so dependent upon them, they’ll fight to keep the Dems in power.
OPM is the drug of Other People’s Money, money stolen at the point of a gun from taxpayers – which is why Democrats are thieving drug pushers. We all know how berserk a drug addict can quickly become when his or her drug supply is suddenly cut off. That’s what happening in Wisconsin, and what’s coming across the country.
It’s coming soon, because there really is no more money. Take a look at this summary of how much money the Federal Government has right now. It has $189.1 billion on hand, has been spending an averaged $943.4 billion per month since the start of FY 2011 (10/10), and can only deficit spend another $130.5 billion before it hits the legal limit on federal debt.
There is no more OPM and the OPM addicts are going to have to go cold turkey – for either deficit spending hits a brick wall by Republicans in Congress refusing to raise the debt ceiling, or the value of the dollar hits a hyperinflation brick wall via continued hyper-deficit spending.
And this is not necessarily an either/or. It could be both. It could already be too late for Congress to shut off the deficit money spigot. Hyperinflation may already be baked in the cake.
As I am writing this, thousands of Tea Partyers have assembled at the Taft Memorial on Capitol Hill for a "Continuing Revolution" rally, demanding an end to the salami slice-thin budget cuts of Continuing Resolutions, even if it means a government shutdown of payments and services.
This demand is driving a number of sober conservatives crazy, as they fear such a strategy will revive the Democrats so much it will all but ensure Zero’s re-election next year. "The only thing that matters is Obama not being re-elected," one of them told me, "for if he is, America really is doomed, there really will be no hope."
The problem is that the economy will not wait until November 2012 (actually Inauguration Day, January 20, 2013). The US economy and the value of the dollar, the value of your paycheck and savings, is being destroyed right now.
It’s fish or cut bait time today – not 22 months from now. Congress’ refusal to raise the debt ceiling is a necessary condition for any hope to avoid Financial Armageddon. It is not a sufficient condition, for other things need to be done as well, but it is necessary.
(A necessary condition is something you have to have to get what you want; if you don’t have it, you don’t get what you want. A sufficient condition is, if you do have it, you do get what you want.)
I get a kick out of the term, "essential services." Whenever some government agency has a budget crisis, it threatens to shut down everything it does except for "essential services." But shouldn’t that be all it does, only doing something essential? Why in the world should it be doing something non-essential? Hello?
So, federal, state, county, and municipal governments better get used to shutting everything down non-essential – because there is no more money. No money because Congress shuts off the deficit spigot, or no money that you can buy anything with as it’s become hyperinflated toilet paper.
This of course means violence and lots of it, perpetrated by union thugs, public employees, the same sort of ilk conducting it in Wisconsin.
How is it possible for a state with a total population of 5.7 million to have 283,000 public employees? This is socialist lunacy – and they are going berserk over not being able to continue mainlining OPM into their veins.
The civil war erupting in our country – Libya in America – won’t just consist of physical violence and death threats. Crooked judges, like Maryann Sumi (whose son works for the AFL-CIO and SEIU) will pervert the law. Honest judges up for election, like Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser, will be viciously smeared. Every tactic of the most ruthless demagoguery will be employed to the max.
This is not a fight that can be won only with guns. Yes, we have orders of magnitude more guns than the moochers, but more guns is, again, only a necessary and not sufficient condition here.
What else to do? It’s a lot easier to change what you do personally than to change the whole country. So while joining and working hard for the Tea Party movement is absolutely worthwhile, think hard about how you can get out of harm’s way.
Get your money and assets out of harm’s way. That means get out of dollars. The ECB (European Central Bank that makes the Euro) is about to raise interest rates – which means the dollar will plunge against the euro and other currencies, accelerating US inflation (foreign goods will cost more). This is a precursor to the Fed raising rates, raising US debt payment costs dramatically.
So, please, get out of dollars. EverBank, for example, enables you to have accounts in various currencies.
If at all possible, get your assets out of the US. Global financial guru Hank Brock will be speaking at the Vegas Rendezvous on how to do this.
Buy gold and silver. The folks at AssetStrategies can help you with this.

This truly is a fine mess America has gotten itself into. The moocher class is not going to go quietly into the night. We really are facing a Libya in America and we cannot afford a "bloody stalemate." We all, from Republicans in Congress to you and me, have to come to grips with it and prepare for it now. Not 2012. Now. Good luck to us.
