Nonetheless, this is a half-full report on the events of this week. For it is with regret that I am in disagreement with a dear friend.
Jack Kelly is a staunch admirer of Lt.Gen. H.R. McMaster, who replaced Lt.Gen. Mike Flynn last February as President Trump’s National Security Advisor. There is no doubt that McMaster is an exceptionally brilliant and heroic military commander. Yet it is becoming almost overwhelmingly clear that Trump made a monumental mistake in choosing him over John Bolton.
The bottom line is that Bolton would have cleared out all the Obama holdovers from the National Security Council, numbering in the many dozens who continue to devote themselves to sabotaging the President’s agenda and leaking classified data to the Fake News Media – while McMaster has done the precise opposite.
Not only has McMaster refused to purge the Obamunists from the NSC, he gave explicit instructions to protect them. As reported by Adam Kredo in Washington Free Beacon yesterday (8/03):
“One of the first things H.R. McMaster did when he took over the NSC was order all the staffers who came in with Trump to stop talking about Obama ‘holdovers.’ It was an actual, literal, explicit instruction. He didn’t want anyone pointing out how Obama loyalists were still in place, undermining President Trump, and leaking against him. These loyalists are said to include many Obama holdovers, including key NSC personnel who work directly for senior Obama aide Ben Rhodes, who has become a central suspect in the leaks of damaging classified information to the press.”
But it’s worse than that, as you can see from Kredo’s headline: McMaster, On ‘Warpath,’ Purges Key Trump Allies From White House NSC. Yes, McMaster has been firing Trump loyalists, not Obama loyalists – with more purges on the way.
This caused TTP contributor Caroline Glick of the Jerusalem Post to note yesterday (8/03):
“The Israel angle on McMaster’s purge of Trump loyalists from the National Security Council is that all of these people are pro-Israel and oppose the Iran nuclear deal, positions that Trump holds. McMaster in contrast is deeply hostile to Israel and to Trump.
McMaster disagrees and actively undermines Trump’s agenda on just about every salient issue on his agenda. He fires all of Trump’s loyalists and replaces them with Trump’s opponents, like Kris Bauman, an Israel hater and Hamas supporter who McMaster hired to work on the Israel-Palestinian desk.”

A bombshell came late last night (8/03) from my friend, ace reporter Sara Carter of Circa News. Click on the link and you will see a personal letter on White House stationery from McMaster to Obama’s National Security Advisor Susan Rice who is deeply implicated in the illegal unmasking of members of Trump’s team and many others.
The letter tells Rice her Top Secret security clearance will be maintained, giving her unfettered and continuing access to classified information.
Breitbart notes on Wednesday (8/02) that McMaster’s view that Rice did nothing wrong with her unmasking is directly at odds with Trump’s: “I think the Susan Rice thing is a massive story,” Trump told the New York Times, suggesting she was committing a crime.
The last straw for McMaster may have come with the leaking yesterday (8/03) to the press of transcripts of the President’s phone conversations with the leaders of Mexico and Australia. As Fox News reports, Leaking of Trump Transcripts Is A Federal Crime.
The people who handled these transcripts were on the National Security Council, thus making it exceedingly likely that the leak came from the NSC. No one is accusing (so far) of McMaster authorizing the leaks, but there is no doubt he must accept responsibility for them.
This culminated today (8/04) in TTP with Daniel Greenfield’s McMaster’s National Security Council Is Becoming a National Security Threat.
The Washington Examiner reported (8/02) that Trump is considering sending McMaster to command US forces in Afghanistan, replacing Gen. John Nicholson with whom he is extremely dissatisfied. McMaster is still an Active Duty three-star. Such a command would give him his fourth star to full General. And he would be where he belongs – a warrior hero fighting to win a war – not riding a West Wing desk playing politics.
Let’s hope the report is true – but that the rumor McMaster would be replaced as NSA by CIA Director Mike Pompeo is not. Pompeo has totally wimped out to the Deep State lifers at Langley. He would likely do the same at the NSC. Bolton would be vastly better.

On Tuesday (8/01), I received this email:
“Dr. Jack Wheeler,
I was an Eagle Scout, as were you. President Trump’s political speech at the Jamboree last week was a breach of the norms the BSA has maintained for as long as I can remember. And I find appalling his off-color remarks to 12-18 year olds about New York cocktail parties, “hot people” and partying aboard luxury yachts.
The leadership of the Boy Scouts has apologized for the President’s remarks, but the President hasn’t apologized, or shown any awareness of what is normal or appropriate in the circumstances.
As far as I’m aware, you haven’t said anything either. Since you are both a former Scout and a strong supporter of the President and perhaps have his ear, maybe you could explain matters to him.

My same day response:
“Dear John,
It is quite clear from your remarks that you neither watched nor read the text of the speech, but merely read some Fake News libtard screed. Please read carefully the entire text as delivered:
When you do, you will be mortified to learn what Trump was talking about at that cocktail party. The people there were the “hottest” meaning most successful businesspeople in New York like Steve Ross, founder of Time Warner. There was not the slightest “off color” intimation of any kind.
Trump told a very moving, touching story relevant to young boys’ lives. It was about a famously successful business man who sold his business, bought a yacht and partied, got bored (in passing telling the Scouts: “You know, truthfully, you’re workers. You’ll get bored too. Believe me.”), went back into business to fail and go bankrupt.
He met him, an old sad broke man, at Steve Ross’ party – who explained what happened: “I lost my momentum,” he said. He had taken his time off partying on yachts, and lost his drive. Trump’s lesson he wanted the Scout to learn from this was:
‘The big thing: Never quit. Never give up. Do something you love. When you do something you love — as a Scout I see that you love it. But when you do something that you love you’ll never fail. What you’re going to do is give it a shot again and again and again. You’re ultimately going to be successful, and remember this, you’re not working… when you do something that you love, remember this, it’s not work.
So you’ll work 24/7, you’re going to work all the time, and at the end of a year you’re not really working. You don’t think of it as work. When you’re not doing something that you like or when you’re forced in to do something that you really don’t like, that’s called work. And it’s hard work and tedious work.
So as much as you can, do something that you love. Work hard, and never ever give up, and you’re going to be tremendously successful. Tremendously successful.’
This was a magnificent speech, extraordinarily inspirational to the Scouts there. The Fake News Media hated it because 45,000 Scouts kept chanting USA! and We love Trump! The FNM showed themselves to be fascisti disgustingly comparing the Scouts to Hitler Youth.

“The Democrats actually colluded with a foreign government like Ukraine. The Democrat-linked firm Fusion GPS actually took money from the Russian government while it created the phony dossier that’s been the basis for all of the Russia scandal fake news. Look no further than the Clintons for a relationship with Russia.”

In the Surprising News department – one of the biggest Rinotard limp-wrists in the Senate is Lindsay Graham. Yet on NBC Tuesday (8/01), he praised the President without reservation for his determination to protect America:
“President Trump has said ‘I will not allow them to get an ICBM with a nuclear weapon on top to hit America. There is a military option to destroy North Korea’s program and North Korea itself. (I am) not going to allow the ability of this madman to have a missile to hit America. If there’s going to be a war to stop him, it will be over there. If thousands die, they’re going to die over there. They’re not going to die here.’ He has told me that to my face.
That may be provocative, but not really. When you’re president of the United States, where does your allegiance lie? To the people of the United States. This man Kim Jong Un is threatening America with a nuclear-tipped missile. There will be a war with North Korea over their missile program if they continue to try and hit America with an ICBM. He has told me that. I believe him. If I were China, I would believe him, too, and do something about it.”
Makes you realize Rinos are retrievable. That Trump is beginning to give them some spine.

On Saturday (8/29), it seemed to abandon the Russia Collusion hoax: The Russians Were Involved – But It Wasn’t About Collusion.
That was a guest op-ed. On Tuesday (8/01), however, a staff editor, Bari Weiss – an admitted anti-Trump feminist liberal – wrote When Progressives Embrace Hate. It’s an astounding condemnation of such lefty icons as Linda Sarsour. It’s a must-read.
Mid-week, the NYT conducted actual journalism, non-opinionated reporting on Trump and trade with China (8/01), and on the DOJ’s new focus on affirmative action (8/02).
It’s only slivers of hope, but let’s keep our eyes open for more slivers.
